In response, JD Research Institute of Consumption and Industrial Development released the "Spring and Summer Outdoor Camping Consumption Trend Report" (hereinafter referred to as the report) to comprehensively analyze the consumption trend of outdoor camping in late spring and early summer. The report shows that since April, the search volume of camping products on JD has increased by 145% year-on-year, and the turnover of tents/cushions has increased by 229% year-on-year. The outdoor camping of consumers shows three major trends: "complete outdoor equipment", "travel protection cannot be less", and "upgrade self-driving equipment".
Outdoor equipment equipped with exquisite camping continues to be hot
Outdoor camping activities are gradually becoming the lifestyle that people admire. The fast-paced life makes more and more people tend to go to nature, release pressure through holiday outdoor camping, and enjoy the slow pace and relaxed pace of life. Under this trend, the exquisite camping products continue to be hot, driving up the turnover of various camping equipment and outdoor protection products.
The report shows that in the category of outdoor equipment, tents/cushions, picnic supplies, outdoor lighting, military fan supplies, and outdoor instruments have become the top five sub-categories of turnover, while the growth rate of rescue equipment, tents/cushions, extreme outdoor, and picnic supplies is more eye-catching, with a year-on-year growth of 256%, 229%, 165%, and 165% respectively, while sleeping bags/hammocks, military fan supplies The turnover of barbecue utensils and other products also increased by 121%, 80% and 67% respectively.
Products that improve the quality of camping have attracted a lot of attention from consumers. For example, the turnover of canopy tents has increased by nearly 4 times over the same period of last year, and the turnover of outdoor camping vehicles has increased by 10 times over the same period of last year. It is worth mentioning that while exquisite camping products continue to be hot, the sales of outdoor camping entry-level products, such as hydraulic tents, quick-throwing tents and picnic mats, also continue to rise, which indicates that a large number of outdoor beginner user groups are joining the camping army.
Do a good job in upgrading protective self-driving equipment when traveling
"If workers want to do their job well, they must first use their tools". Consumers will also make relevant protective preparations before outdoor travel, such as sunscreen, sunglasses, sunshade caps, sunscreen gloves, car sunshades and other sunscreen products, as well as anti-dust masks and various emergency medicine, tools and other products, which have attracted consumers' attention. The report shows that in the outdoor protection category, the turnover of sunscreen accounts for 59%, the turnover of sunglasses and sunshades accounts for 18% and 11% respectively, and the turnover of sunshades has increased by more than 50% year-on-year.
Most outdoor camping activities require self-driving, so people's self-driving equipment is also constantly upgrading. The turnover of wireless charging bracket, car sterilization/disinfectant, car wash brush, car anti-fog wipes and other products has also achieved a significant increase, with a year-on-year growth of more than 7 times. The turnover of safety hammer, car charging equipment and other products has also increased by more than 100%.
Greater enthusiasm for outdoor camping in large and medium-sized cities
From the perspective of regional consumption characteristics, residents of large and medium-sized cities show higher enthusiasm. The report shows that the outdoor equipment shopping user groups in Beijing, Chengdu and Guangzhou are more concentrated, while the number of outdoor equipment shopping users in Wuhan, Zhengzhou, Xi'an, Changsha, Jinan and other cities has a higher year-on-year growth, reaching 89%, 88%, 86%, 83% and 75% respectively.
In addition, consumers in different cities also showed different preferences for camping equipment. According to the proportion of outdoor equipment consumption in various categories in cities across the country, consumers who prefer to buy tents/mats come from Nanning, Xi'an and Nanjing, accounting for 25.7%, 24.8% and 24.7% respectively; Consumers who prefer to buy outdoor lighting come from Maoming, Huizhou and Nanchong, accounting for 22.5%, 22.4% and 21.4% respectively; Consumers who prefer to buy sleeping bags/hammocks come from Wuhan, Zhengzhou and Xiamen, accounting for 9.3%, 8.9% and 8.2% respectively; Consumers who prefer to buy barbecue utensils come from Jinan, Weifang and Linyi, accounting for 13.0%, 11.8% and 11.2% respectively.
On the whole, the large-scale rise and expansion of camping tide has provided a broader development space for businesses. In this regard, how to seize the opportunity to "stick" users and make consumers' outdoor camping activities upgrade from "preliminary" to "refined" has become the key.
